A
Note from your Veteran's Advocate
Thanks
for visiting Focus on Veterans! I really
hope you will check back from time to time. We are half way
through the year already! It's hard to believe!
Last
week I mentioned the challenges that we as a country are facing this year. High gas prices,
the war on terror, higher food prices, stormy weather and a very important
election coming up were some of the things I spoke of. Yet the weather has
wreaked havoc in different ways throughout this country over the past few
months.
We
have flooding in the midwest, wildfires in California and drought
conditions in many other areas.
I
don't know what the answer is but as a Christian I know what we can
do...pray! I mean pray like you have never prayed before!
Pray
that God will grant us wisdom as we elect new leaders for this country.
You know Abigail Adams once said, "The race is not to the swift,
nor the battle to the strong; but the God of Israel is He that giveth
strength and power unto His people. Trust in Him at all times, ye people,
pour out your hearts before him; God is a refuge for us. Sounds like
very good advice! We can also keep the prayers going for our troops and
our veterans. They should be in our prayers daily! As far as our country
goes, I am reminded of what the Bible says in II Chronicles 7:14, "If
my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray,
and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land".

Happy Independence Day!!
"The second day of July,
1776, will be the most memorable epocha in the history of America. I am
apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the
great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of
deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be
solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells,
bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other,
from this time forward for evermore".
John Adam’s Letter to
Abigail Adams (July 3, 1776)
I would like to wish everyone a Happy Independence
Day! While we enjoy the holiday please join me in remembering those who
gave us the freedoms we now enjoy and often take for granted. I thank God
for those who were willing to sacrifice so much so we could live free!
Let's
Vote!
With
the primaries upon us, I hope that everyone will get out and exercise your
right to vote! You know, this right to vote that we have is one of
those hard earned rights that we all to often take for granted.
I
would also like to encourage everyone to study the candidates and
issues. We need to educate our children about the election process and
what is actually involved.
Also,
let's vote as our convictions dictate. "Always
vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the
sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost." —
John Quincy
Adams
Speaking of voting, please cast your vote in my
votecaster. The questions range from political, Christian to cowboys! I will have another question or two posted very soon.
